About Basingstoke Ladies' Choir

BLC TODAY

The choir after 56 years is thriving with 50+ members. We, of course, welcome new people to take the choir forward. The choir’s repertoire is very varied and includes all types of music including songs from the shows, hit songs from various eras, sacred songs and songs in other languages and of course, Christmas music. Concerts are performed in the local area and further afield.
Under the musical leadership of our MD, Rob Elliott, the choir is continually evolving, aiming always for the highest standards and rising to new challenges in the pursuit of excellence in singing   A rolling programme of new music combined with old favourites keeps our repertoire fresh and appealing for both choir and audience alike.  Most of all it is fun.
Throughout the pandemic we continued to meet via Zoom, practising vocal exercises to keep our voices in shape and singing through some of our most recent repertoire. We have also kept in touch with everyone with a variety of Zoom socials such as Gardeners’ Question Time, Craft sessions, Pamper Evenings and Festive Parties. Our plans for concerts and trips obviously had to be put on hold due to Covid19 but the framework is in hand to take these forward now that we are back to singing together again.

We are a caring and friendly choir, supporting charities with our concerts. We are looking forward to helping our chosen 2021 charity – the Sebastian’s Action Trust – a wonderful local charity based at North Waltham providing care and support to children with life-limiting illnesses along with their families.

If you feel this is the choir for you and you would like to join this special choir, then take a look at the Membership page for more details.
